Plymouth 0-1 Rotherham

Rotherham enhanced their automatic promotion prospects with victory at relegation-threatened Plymouth, thanks to Kieran Agard's second-half goal.

Argyle responded with Reuben Reid flashing a stooping header inches wide from Onismor Bhasera's pinpoint cross.

Reid should have scored from Bhasera's next cross, a minute later, but fired high and over from 12 yards.

The result kept Rotherham in third place with a game remaining, two points clear of Cheltenham, while Plymouth are only clear of next-to-bottom AFC Wimbledon by the same margin.

Plymouth Argyle manager John Sheridan told BBC Radio Devon:

"We matched them and I didn't see any danger. We switched off again and it's a straight forward ball in the box. I don't think we deserved it but that's life.

"They couldn't give me anymore, I'm proud of the players. I said it would probably go to the last game and it's a funny old league.

"We've played all the so-called best teams in the league and none of them have been better than us, so we're definitely improving and I think the fans appreciate that.

"To get the point we need would've been great for the support we've had all season, but now we're all just thinking about next week."

Rotherham United manager Steve Evans told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"Well it was another hard-earned battle. I keep saying there's 46 battles in this league, we've come here and credit to Plymouth Argyle I thought they were terrific today.

"But we dug in and worked hard and early in the second half we missed a couple of chances in quick succession.

"And Kieran (Agard) pops up as he has done on more than one occasion and gets us a goal and then you have to defend heroically.

"Scott Shearer, Craig Morgan and Claude Davis, Kari Arnason, Johnny Mullins - what a defensive unit to have protecting you."
