Jurgen Klopp has banned his Liverpool players from touching the 'This Is Anfield' sign inside the stadium's tunnel.

The German explained his decision, saying his current players will only be worthy of touching it when they deliver silverware to the club.

"I've told my players not to touch the 'This Is Anfield' sign until they win something," he said. "It's a sign of respect."

The Reds went into the tie at Anfield with the scores level at one-all but Dortmund appeared to put the game to bed early when they scored two quick-fire early goals.

Divock Origi scored just after half-time to give Liverpool a glimmer of hope but Marco Reus' strike 10 minutes later made it 3-1 to the visitors.

Philippe Coutinho then struck from distance for the hosts before Mamadou Sakho bundled home after a scrap in the box to leave Klopp's side needing just one goal to progress.

With Anfield bouncing, Liverpool went for the jugular and their intense play was rewarded in the first minute of injury-time when Dejan Lovren headed home to cap one of the most remarkable nights in the Reds' history.

They are joined in the last four by Villarreal, Sevilla and Shakhtar Donetsk.
