Kuwait:  The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) announced the names of chairpersons and members of its standing committees for 2019-2023.

Seven Qatari members nominated by Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) were elected to the standing committees of the OCA. Ishaq Al Hashimi was elected as a member of the Sports Committee, Al Anoud Saeed Al Misned was elected to the Sports and Women’s Committee, Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah was elected to the Athletes Committee, Hamad Yousif Al Obaidli was elected to Information Committee, Saif Mohammed Al Nuaimi was elected to the Education Committee, Rashid Saeed Odaiba was elected to the Sports for All Committee, and Dr. Abdulwahab Al Muslah was elected to the Medical Committee.

The OCA comprises of 18 standing committees.

The Qatari candidates won the confidence of the OCA in accordance with the conditions and qualifications required, in addition to Qatar’s high level of expertise in the competencies and leadership of sports in all areas, which is one of the most important gains from hosting and organization of tournaments and sporting events in Qatar over the past decades, as well as the programs and initiatives provided by Qatar Sports at all levels.

Second Vice-President of the Qatar Olympic Committee Dr. Thani bin Abdulrahman Al Kuwari was elected Vice-President for the West Asia region for the election cycle 2019-2023 at the 38th Assembly held in Bangkok in March under the chairmanship of President of the Olympic Council of Asia Sheikh Ahmed Al Fahad Al Sabah.
