The first migrants set to be deported to Rwanda have been detained. The Home Office said a series of operations took place across the country this week, with more activity due to be carried out in the coming weeks. Officials have not yet said how many people have been detained, or where they were taken into custody. It comes ahead of the Government's bid to get flights to send migrants to the east African nation off the ground by July, after the Safety of Rwanda Act became law last week. In one video, a team of about six officials - all thought to be from the Home Office's Immigration Enforcement unit - arrive at a terraced house and enter through the front door.

'The BBC grinds you down and breaks you': Four female news presenters suing the

A group of female BBC news presenters taken off air last year after missing out on top presenting roles have branded the selection process a 'sham' and 'rigged', an employment tribunal heard today. The four women accuse the corporation of age and sex 'discrimination' over the way the broadcaster handled the recruitment process for new chief presenter roles. One of them said that the BBC 'grinds you down and breaks you' when it comes to pay claims. The group are also making equal pay claims against the corporation. Martine Croxall, 55, Karin Giannone, 50, Kasia Madera, 48, and Annita McVeigh, 55, are taking part in the bombshell case in London against the broadcaster. It comes after the BBC merged its domestic and international news channels and ran a selection process for the top chief presenter roles on the service.

Dublin's migrant camp is destroyed and all 200 asylum seekers taken away on coaches as Irish anger grows over migrants fleeing Britain's Rwanda relocation scheme

Hundreds of migrants have been sleeping rough beside the city's International Protection Office, setting up makeshift accommodation around the building that snakes off down nearby streets. A slew of videos circulating social media showed how officers in hi-vis this morning bundled up tents as the migrants filed onto a string of coaches dispatched to Mount Street. A truck-mounted crane was even deployed to tear the canvas structures away from the pavement and deposit them into a skip - or pull them into the street where officers could squirrel them away. For weeks the migrants had been camping on Mount Street with no access to sanitary facilities, telling reporters they were forced to use an open toilet in the corner of the camp.

Boy, 14, killed in Hainault sword attack is named: Neighbours say teen 'didn't hear

The 14-year-old killed in the London sword attack was today named as Daniel Anjorin - the youngest of three children from a respected churchgoing Nigerian family. Daniel went to the £24,990-a-year Bancroft's private school in Woodford Green - which is also where Nottingham stabbing victim Grace O'Malley-Kumar, 19, who was killed last June, attended. The flag on the school's building flew at half-mast today. Daniel's parents are health and safety consultant Dr Ebenezer Anjorin, 59, and science teacher Grace Anjorin, 49, who married in 2002, reported the Telegraph . Dr Anjorin is said to have worked for Transport for London for more than 20 years, and is a trustee for his local Citizens Advice Bureau. Mrs Anjorin teaches at The Holy Family School in Walthamstow, which described its 'great sadness' at Daniel's death. The chaos in Hainault saw a man armed with a sword go on the rampage, killing Daniel and injuring two other members of the public as well as two police officers. Neighbours said the man first spoke to a woman, asking her to confirm his location, before she saw the weapon and fled. She tried to warn Daniel but it was too late.

Met Police chief Mark Rowley reveals female officer attacked by sword-wielding suspect 'nearly lost her arm' and will need 'years of physio' after bloody knife rampage left boy, 14, dead and three others injured

The Met chief said a male officer was left with severe injuries to his hand following the apparently random rampage. A 14-year-old boy was killed and two other people suffered serious injuries. The 36-year-old suspect had rammed his van into a house near Hainault Tube station in Iford, east London , before slashing members of the public and police officers who responded to terrified 999 calls for help. Sir Mark told LBC today: 'The first thing you have to say is for the parents involved, who've lost their 14-year-old, and that is just horrific, and it's everyone's worst nightmare. I'm sure we're all thinking about them.'

Why our police don't stand a chance: Ex-officer warns officers aren't equipped to deal

Unarmed British bobbies are not properly equipped to deal with violent incidents like yesterday's sword rampage in Hainault, a former officer said today. Two officers and two members of the public were seriously injured and a 14-year-old boy killed during a 22-minute reign of terror that ended with the 36-year-old suspect being Tasered and arrested. The first local officers on the scene are not believed to have been carrying Tasers, with only about 7,500 of the Met's 34,000 police officers currently trained to carry the non-lethal devices. Today the Police Federation led calls for every frontline cop to be equipped with one of the devices, which fire two barbs that attach to the targets skin before releasing a current that overrides a person's ability to make voluntary movements.

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe reopens war of words with JK Rowling over trans views

Daniel Radcliffe (left) has reignited a row with JK Rowling (right) over trans views by saying his beliefs don't have to align with the author's just because she made him a star. The actor, 34, and fellow Harry Potter stars Emma Watson, 34, and Rupert Grint, 35, have been outspoken in their support of gender ideology - that biologically male trans women are actually women. Yet although Radcliffe admitted 'nothing in my life' would likely have happened if not for beloved author Rowling, 58, he said that didn't mean he didn't owes her 'the things he truly believes'. Despite the multi-millionaire's view that trans women are women, just this week it was revealed the NHS will declare sex is biological. It came after the Cass report found there is 'remarkably weak evidence' for gender-affirming techniques in children such as puberty blockers. It also said that  'for the majority of young people, a medical pathway may not be the best way' to help when they are 'presenting with gender incongruence or distress'.

One room looks like a deserted library, with books covering every surface. In the bathroom, the sink and tub are littered with old papers and magazines. Due to its current state, the property has garnered negative attention online.

Why men who murder women should be called TERRORISTS - and what I learned going undercover

When is a terror attack not a terror attack? When the victims are women. It would be hard not to draw this conclusion after recent horrific events in Sydney, Australia. On April 13, Joel Cauchi (pictured above) killed six people and stabbed 12 more, including a nine-month-old baby girl inside the Westfield Bondi Junction shopping centre. The vast majority of the victims were women. This was no coincidence, as we would quickly learn.

But fans were perplexed when he vanished from the limelight ten years ago, so much so that one of the top Google results when you search his name is still: 'What has happened to George Lamb?' George told MailOnline today that despite 'really enjoying' the trappings of fame - he felt 'empty' working on TV and 'chasing money' so he walked away for a normal job. The former presenter and model, 44, has swapped red carpets and boozy nights for agriculture and ancient grains - and has a new unlikely business partner in Jeremy Clarkson . Baywatch star Jeremy Jackson's ex-wife Loni Willison, 40, is spotted rummaging through

The former model has been spotted hauling round a shopping cart filled with her possessions and rummaging through dumpsters in the streets of Los Angeles. The 40-year-old, who is the ex-wife of Baywatch star Jeremy Jackson, cut a lonely figure as she dug through the trash with what looked to be a broken finger and pipe in hand as she donned a pair of pink pants that were too large for her. The troubled former star has been seen several times over the past year searching for food outdoors, with bruising visible on her hands, and hauling a shopping cart of clothes behind her. Now, she has once again sparked concern as she seems to have moved on from shopping at a 99 cents store to dumpster diving with a broken finger - pushing her cartful of goods around California before hitting up trash bins for items she could add to her collection.

People are only just realising what used to be inside the O2 Arena before it turned into

The forgotten history of London 's iconic O2 Arena has resurfaced - and the eerie exhibition from its past life as the Millennium Dome has left many visitors scratching their heads in disbelief. Long before it became the distinguished concert venue we know today, the formerly-known Millennium Dome - based in the Greenwich Peninsula in south east London - was completed in 1999 and opened in 2000 to mark the new millennia. Some of its most notable attractions included Ron Mueck's giant 'Boy' sculpture, The Millennium Coin Minting Press and The Millennium Star Jewels - which became the focus of the failed Millennium Diamond Heist on November 7, 2000. However, the project and exhibition - which ran from January 1 to December 31, 2000 - attracted barely half of the 12 million customers its sponsors forecasted, and so were deemed a failure by the press. The Dome was closed and opened temporarily in December 2003 for a Winter Wonderland experience before undergoing a transformative journey to become the O2 Arena on May 31, 2005.
