Mission Statement
School counselors are members of the educational team who help advance organizational change through leadership, collaboration, and student empowerment. School counselors assist students in the individual development and understanding of their behavior and self-worth. Our counselors serve as coordinators, facilitators, leaders, and consultants to provide services to students through the implementation of comprehensive counseling services that assist students in acquiring the skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to become effective students, responsible citizens, productive workers, spiritual and visionary leaders and lifelong learners in our ever-changing world. The St. Anthony's High School Comprehensive Counseling Plan is intended to meet the New York State regulations by focusing on educational goals and career exploration opportunities, as well as to encourage parental involvement.
Belief Statement:
As professional school counselors and college advisors, we believe that:
All students have value and our priority is to serve all with dignity and respect.
All students are unique and when given a safe, nurturing environment, will succeed to their fullest potential.
All counselors will personify the highest level of ethical and professional behavior.
Counselors play a pivotal role in adolescent-aged children.
Counselors will work in collaboration with students, parents/guardians, teachers, administration and stakeholders to assist and foster students’ educational and personal progress.
Counselors are advocates for every student.
The Role of the School Counselor:
As professional school counselors we will:
Encourage and empower students to make informed, productive and successful decisions.
Advocate for each student.
Promote every student’s goal for success.
Collaborate with all stakeholders for the common good of all students.
Assist students in scheduling appropriate courses.
Support the emotional and social well-being of all students.
Aid students in their college planning and application.
