Today, at the 2024 Workers Memorial Ceremony in Syracuse, NYSDOT partnered with the New York State Police & New York State Thruway Authority to honor the workers who lost their lives or were injured in the line of duty and pay tribute to their dedication and bravery. New York has experienced a rising number of work zone speed violations, resulting in numerous highway worker injuries and several deaths. Last year alone, NYSDOT recorded 214 intrusions in its work zones. ONE intrusion is one too many! So let us honor these workers and their families by working to keep everyone safe. When you see our highway workers, slow down, move over, and put your phone down.

🌲🌍 Yesterday, on #EarthDay, our incredible NYSDOT Hornell crew planted over 1,000 white pine trees throughout the region! These native beauties are not just trees; they will offer sanctuary to wildlife and act as a “living snow fence” which helps keep blowing snow from reaching our highways. Huge thanks to our dedicated team for their commitment to sustainability and safety!
