The EN1755 EU standard, for companies building or converting forklift trucks for safe operation in potentially explosive environments has changed. From November 2017, an updated EN1755:2015 standard will apply to forklifts for Zone 1, 2, 21, 22.

To make sure that operators, forklift dealers and OEMs can specify an ATEX forklift truck that meets the new standard, Pyroban has updated the Request for Quotation (RFQ) form for all customer enquiries. By asking additional questions about the application, the truck and the explosion protection conversion, Pyroban is already ensuring that the equipment will be converted to meet all the required standards, including the updated EN1755:2015.

For example, changes to the EN1755 standard mean that static electricity will now be considered an ignition risk during ‘normal’ operation, which will affect seats, arm rests, cabin sides and other plastics in Zone 2. There are also changes to tyre requirements for Zone 2 trucks which operations may need to account for when specifying any new truck and then maintaining it.

Forklift suppliers and OEMs can learn more about the updated EN1755:2015 standard and how this might affect your Zone 2 materials handling operation with this free download.
