After a day long delay due to strong winds, competitors took to the water once again in Montagu Bay to resume action in the 2009 Sunfish World Championships.
David Loring of the United States was strengthened his first place advantage with a productive outing which included a second and fourth place finish.
Loring overcame a 20% penalty in race seven, which dropped him to a fifteenth place finish, however still leads the field with 21.6 net points.
The remainder of the top five remained virtually unchanged following day four of competition.
Marx Chirinos of Venezuela remains in second place with 23 net points.
Chirnos suffered a similar 20% penalty in race six for a 15th place finish, however, rebounded to finish third in race seven and sixth in race eight.
American teammates Paul-Jon Patin and David Mendelblatt are in third and fourth positions respectively.
Patin who began the regatta with the first race win, finished fourth, 14th and fifth yesterday for 26 net points, while Mendelblatt delivered the most noteworthy performance of the day.
After a 20th place finish due to a penalization, he returned to win the final two contests of the day to move into fourth place with 29 net points.
Peter Stanton of the U.S Virgin Islands rounds out the top five with 32 net points.
Stanton took first place in the opening race of the morning and followed up with fifth and second place finishes thereafter.
Donald Martinborough remains the top placed Bahamian competitor in the field in 16th position with 129 net points.
Martinborough enjoyed his best finish of the event thus far with an 11th place finish in race eight.
Charles Kelly dropped four sports to 24th position with a net score of 173 points.
Fernando De Cardenas improved five positions to move into 28th.
He recorded the best finish of any Bahamian sailor in the field with a ninth place effort in race seven.
Christopher Sands fell to 34th with 219 net points, Gavin McKinney is 36th with 224, Andrew Wilhoyte is 37th with 225, Jeffrey Gale is 39th with 227, Peter-Bruce Wassitsch is 41st with 253, James Lowe 42nd (269), George Damianos 45th (304), Ted O'Brien 47th (311), Donico Brown 49th (315), Michael Holowesko 50th (319), Dwayne Wallas 58th (369), Lori Lowe 64th (419) and BJ Burrows 65th (434).
Today marks the final day of competition in the Sunfish World Championships with the final awards ceremony tomorrow night at the Nassau Yacht Club.
