New Jersey’s average property tax bill may have hit $8,767 last year — a new record — but taxpayers in some parts of the state pay just a fraction of that.
And while average tax bills tend to be higher in the northern part of the state, bargains can be found in every county. That is relatively, of course. This is New Jersey.
A low property tax bill for Cumberland County is quite different than a low tax bill for Passaic County.
So which towns have the lowest property taxes in your county, as well as all the others? We’ve charted 63 towns where homeowners are lucky enough to have some of the lowest tax bills in New Jersey.
Remember, average property tax bills take into account property values as wells as tax rates. Towns with more expensive real estate tend to have more expensive tax bills.
