facebook has a really strong brand. i think its going to be interesting to see how consumers and industry respond to this new brand / whether it takes or not.

The connectivity angle to the 'verse is going to be interesting. I'm expecting the usual hype about it being a "killer app for 5G". (No, it won't be). One thing I think hasn't been explored yet - I suspect that Metaverse usage may be more indoor-centric than traditional social media, as it's likely to be more immersive & so perhaps less likely to be useful while "out and about". Rather closer to gaming in that regard, I expect. That will have implications about the type & style of connectivity needed.
