Peloton and Pinterest are out in front for bosses making $100m a year

America’s most highly paid bosses are not necessarily those who run the country’s biggest companies.

Chief executives at Hertz, Peloton and Pinterest all earned more than $100 million last year, more than almost every boss in the S&P 500 index of most of the country’s biggest publicly traded businesses.

All three, for instance, earned more than Tim Cook, the chief executive of Apple, which on Monday became the first company in the world to reach a market value of $3 trillion. Cook earned $99 million.

In contrast, Hertz is worth $5.8 billion, Peloton $2.9 billion and Pinterest $18.6 billion.
