Can you please show us the advanced settings?

Sure https://imgur.com/a/7JVRPog But like i said in other comment, it's pretty basic and not meant to replace twrp

Lineage recovery used to be cwm recovery if I recall correctly. Didn't know it was still being supported. What phone is this and does it work? Or is it only used for flashing los

No, LineageOS recovery is rebuilt from the ground up and shares nothing with CWM.

CM used to recommend CWM for a while back in the day though. That's probably what you're thinking of.

Actually, in the early days CyanogenMod used a CWM based recovery (which basically was CWM with a different name). In many cases you couldn't even choose your own recovery (e.g., Samsung devices had no usable recovery partition).

That was a long time ago. It's easy to forget the details. I was involved in the early days too, but to a lesser extent. :)

So where's this effort heading? Is it just a prudent backstop re TWRP?

LOS recovery doesn't do backups, so most people probably won't want it. I think it's there so that LOS can flash updates.

TWRP is certainly more feature rich, although I did run the LOS recovery for a while on the n5x since that was all I needed. I might be a flashaholic, but at least I'm not a crack flasher. ;)

No Backups? Duh

Not sure what you mean?

The introduction of their optional but easily installed TWRP app complete with location tracking springs to mind.

Edit: This explains a bit more. https://reddit.com/comments/7mlk7o/comment/drwpuks

I wouldn't say that's the reason.

TWRP is not meant to be used exclusively with LineageOS. Thus, it's not always possible to adapt official TWRP builds to work with LineageOS perfectly.

Example of this are some LG devices that do some weird things with /misc, causing issues with OTA updates when using LineageOS. Fixing LineageOS means breaking stock (I don't know the details). If you control both the recovery and the OS, you can pretty much do what you want.

Some TWRP trees are also outdated and not well maintained, so LineageOS maintainers sometimes need to suggest unofficial builds. An official recovery would solve this problem.

LineageOS recovery won't have many functionalities, just what's required to install and update the OS.

Does not surprise me. Cyanogen mod used to have its own recovery. Although it was heavily based on cwm iirc

What ?!

[–]Niui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally they made it better! The old version was too simple, let's wait for my falcon be eligible to los15 so I can upgrade both :(

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

still use twrp if you can

[–]gobabushka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to resurrect an old thread, but how does one block an OTA LineageOS update from overwriting my TWRP image?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how

[–]c4os -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No backup function?
