That's My Woman | Nashville Teens |
Radio London had its own 'Big L Theatre' at the Racing Car Show, Olympia. On January 12th, Tony Blackburn and Keith Skues co-hosted a show where Jimi Hendrix mimed to Hey Joe. We can only wonder what Jimi must have made of all the strange promotional appearances he was obliged to make, although motor racing surely proved more fascinating for him than his earlier appearance on the Boxing Day afternoon 'show for all the family' at the Upper Cut Club! |

(He's) Raining In My Sunshine | Jay and the Americans | United Artists UP1162 |
Unluckily for Jay and the Americans, despite being penned by the prolific songwriting partnership of Doc Pomus and Mort Schuman, (He's) Raining In My Sunshine, their thirteenth of eighteen US Hot Hundred entries, was to be their lowest ever (#90, Nov '66). Although their singles were frequently played on the watery wireless, the group never entered the UK Nationals. In the early '70s when Jay and the Americans were playing oldies shows, two of the band members at the time just happened to be Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, who have since become somewhat better known as Steely Dan.
