Cardinal Newman High School knew back in 2007 that Brooks Koepka was a cut above the rest, as he pulled off the state title for the Crusaders by shooting a 66 in the final round. But after this weekend, more than ever, everybody's buzzing about Brooks.

We saw the biggest major championship fist pump we've ever seen from hometown hero Koepka yesterday, capping off a 2-stroke win over Dustin Johnson and winning back to back PGA Championships. But his former geometry teacher and principal at Cardinal Newman High School was fist pumping right along with him.

"We are just so proud," says Dr. Christine Higgins. "We are just so proud of all of his accomplishments, I mean I'm just speechless."

The boys and girls on the Crusaders golf team feel privileged to have a special connection with a guy who's now won an incredible four major championships over the last 23 Months.

"I think he's very determined," says Cardinal Newman golfer Frances Melendez Rodriguez. "Which a lot of (Cardinal Newman students are), so that definitely helps him out on the course,"

"I think he's very resilient," says fellow Crusader golfer Allison Allianic. "And it shows that we can all persevere."

Koepka's individual state title trophy in their school trophy case is truly a symbol of what the future could hold.

"It just gives us all hope, " says Crusaders senior Jake Wilkinson.

"It's just possible now," adds teammate Matthew Depinto. "We've seen it from people we know personally now, so it's pretty impressive that we can make it there one day ourselves."

Koepka is now on top of the golf world figuratively speaking and literally. It's propelled him back to # 1 in the world golf rankings.
