Back in the 1920’s, when the Michelangelo was called The Taft Hotel, famous big-band leader Vincent Lopez opened a short engagement at the Hotel Taft Grill that ended up lasting over 20 years. Among the stars that began their career with Lopez at the Taft Hotel, were Artie Shaw, Xavier Cugot, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Glenn Miller and Tony Pastor.

Spacious and atmospheric, the Michelangelo guestroom interiors are comfortably arranged like a French country chateau. At an average of 475 square-feet, these guestrooms are among the largest in New York City. Furnishings include twin-poster beds, European writing desks, and Provencal French décor, with either garden or rustic fabric treatments.
