Jools Holland & Rolf Harris at Wickham Festival


Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra plus veteran entertainer Rolf Harris and his Band will headline the Wickham Festival near Fareham in Hampshire between Thursday 4th and Sunday 7th August 2011.

Jools Holland will be joined by special guests Ruby Turner and Sandie Shaw for the opening night's concert on Thursday 4th August.

Rolf Harris and his Band will be making their only UK Festival appearance of the Summer when they bring their 'Rock 'n' Rolf' Show to Wickham on Friday 5th August.  The veteran 81-year-old entertainer has become a firm favourite on the festivals scene having performed several times on the main stage at the Glastonbury Festival in recent years.

Other artists confirmed for the Festival include guitar maestro Richard Thompson; BBC Folk Award winners Bellowhead; singer-songwriters Kate Rusby and Eddi Reader; Kathryn Tickell; Teddy Thompson; Toyah and The Men They Couldn't Hang.

The 4-day Festival will also feature street theatre, storytelling, childrens entertainers, a solar-powered cinema tent, digital funfair, morris dancing, traditional crafts fayre, an Exotic Food Festival and Real Ale Festival.

Veteran politician Tony Benn will also give a performance of his acclaimed 'Writing on the Wall' spoken word concert at Wickham Community Centre on Friday 5th August (7.30pm start).

People are travelling from all over the UK and abroad to attend the Festival which is recognised as one of the safest and friendliest summer music festivals in Britain.

Festival Organiser Peter Chegwyn said:  "It's a real coup for a little village like Wickham to attract top-class entertainers like Jools Holland and Rolf Harris to appear in the village.

"The Wickham Festival offers top-quality live music plus a range of other entertainment in a lovely rural setting.  Wickham is a very safe and family-friendly Festival with something for everyone including lots of free fun and games for the kids."
