Channel 5 announced today a new series, Rolf's Animal Clinic, with exclusive access to The University of Liverpool’s Vet School, one of the world’s leading veterinary institutions.

Presented by renowned broadcaster and animal lover Rolf Harris, the series follows teams of highly-skilled professionals and students whose daily work involves dealing with medical emergencies and treating the injuries and ailments of a wide variety of animals – from domestic pets and farm livestock to exotic zoo creatures.

Giving a unique insight into the School’s specialist units, the series shows the treatment of sick animals that have been entrusted by their owners into the care of a passionate and dedicated staff. Vets at the School’s Equine Clinic and Farm Animal practice are on-call 24 hours a day, while the state-of-the-art Small Animal Hospital treats over 5,000 patients a year.

Throughout the series we follow the personal journeys of Vets, students and owners alike, as they face difficult decisions that affect the lives and futures of the animals under their care.

Presenter, Rolf Harris said: "The welfare of animals is something that has always been close to my heart and it's wonderful to be presenting this series which covers the fascinating and skilled work of the vets dealing with such an amazing range of animals."

Commissioning Editor, Ian Dunkley said: “The series gets to the emotional heart of what it is to be a Vet - from the drama of life-saving equine surgery, to how best to deal with an overweight pet. Having Rolf as the presenter is a fantastic addition to the series.”
