See Ike & Tina Turner’s Explosive James Brown Cover From ‘Big T.N.T.’ DVD

Pair of classic early Sixties concert films, including duo’s “Please, Please, Please” making Blu-ray debut this December

A pair of classic Sixties concert films, 1964’s T.A.M.I. Show and its 1966 follow-up The Big T.N.T. Show, will come to Blu-ray together for the first time this December as a two-disc collection’s edition. For the Blu-ray release, both films received a high-definition transfer, as evidenced by the first sample of the upcoming release: Ike & Tina Turner’s explosive cover of James Brown’s “Please, Please, Please” from The Big T.N.T. Show.

T.A.M.I. Show – short for Teenage Awards Music International and held at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on October 28 and 29, 1964 – featured performances by the Beach Boys, the Rolling Stones, Brown, Chuck Berry, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, the Supremes and more.

The Big T.N.T. Show recruited the likes of Ike & Tina, the Byrds, Ray Charles, the Ronettes, Bo Diddley, Donovan and more to Los Angeles’ Moulin Rouge nightclub in November 1965.

In addition to the bonus features found on the 2009 DVD release of T.A.M.I. Show, T.A.M.I. Show / The Big T.N.T. Show Collector’s Edition includes commentary by T.A.M.I. Show director Steve Binder, new interviews with Big T.N.T. performers Petula Clark and Lovin’ Spoonful’s John Sebastian and a 36-page booklet detailing the two concerts.

T.A.M.I. Show / The Big T.N.T. Show Collector’s Edition is due out December 2nd through the Shout! Factory. The Big T.N.T. Show will also be available as a standalone DVD that day.
