Brooks Koepka to miss the 2018 Masters recovering from wrist injury

Brooks Koepka had hoped to return from wrist surgery and a resulting rehab at the 2018 Masters, but the US Open champion’s progress hasn’t come far enough to allow him to compete in the year’s first major. Koepka will miss the 2018 Masters.

Craig Dolch was first to report the news for USA Today.

Koepka finished dead last in the Hero World Challenge, where he first experienced the injury in December, and then again at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in January. While he initially said he would play through the pain until his medical team could figure out what was going on, Kopeka has not played since, opting for a surgery on a partially torn left wrist tendon.

The rehab schedule, which was aggressive, had Koepka coming back in time for the Masters. However, Koepka told the Post he’s not quite ready.

“They said I would be about 80 percent, but I can’t play 80 percent,” Koepka said. “I either have to go full bore or not at all. I don’t want to risk getting it re-injured and then be out a long time.”

Koepka finished 11th in last year’s Masters and has improved his finish in each start. He will begin chipping the week of the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play after resuming putting the week of Bay Hill.
