Tina Turner

Tina Turner (real name Anna Mae Bullock) was born and raised in Tennessee. Her birthday was Nov. 26, 1939, and her height was 5'4"; she died on May 24, 2023, at age 83. The rock n' roll trailblazer made her debut on the Billboard charts as half of the duo Ike & Tina Turner in August 1960 with "A Fool in Love"; the song debuted at No. 10 and climbed to No. 2 in two weeks on what is now the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. It also reached No. 27 on the Hot 100. Her debut solo album, 'Tina Turns the Country On!,' launched in 1975 but did not reach the Billboard 200. Her first solo album to reach the chart was 1984's 'Private Dancer,' which peaked at No. 3 in September 1984 and launched her comeback. Over the course of her career, she landed 18 songs on the Hot 100, with 1984's "What's Love Got to Do With It" becoming one of her most iconic hits -- and her only No. 1 on the chart. The song also won record of the year and best female pop vocal performance at the Grammys in 1985; she has a total of eight Grammys. Turner has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice: once as part of Ike & Tina Turner in 1991, and again in 2021 as a solo artist.
