Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr to be interviewed by David Letterman for 'Grammy Salute to the Beatles'

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will open up to David Letterman on "The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to the Beatles,'' which will air at 8 p.m. Sunday.

The two-and-a-half-hour special was taped in the Ed Sullivan Theater, the exact site that McCartney, Starr and bandmates John Lennon and George Harrison turned the world on its ear on Sunday, Feb. 9, 1964.

The theater is now home to Letterman's "Late Show. The special was taped on Tuesday and features several of today's top artists, including the Eurythmics, Alicia Keys, John Mayer and Keith Urban, covering songs performed by the Beatles that momentous night, plus others from throughout their much too short career.

According to a release from the Recording Academy, the organization behind the Grammys, “various presenters will help highlight and contextualize the musical, cultural and historical impact of the group and this legendary performance on pop music and the world.’’

The show will air on CBS, WOIO Channel 19.
