Rolf Harris Re-Arrested By Operation Yewtree Police Over New Sex Offence Allegations

Monday, 05 August 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

Musician, singer-songwriter, composer, painter, TV personality and all-round entertainer, Rolf Harris has been re-arrested over new allegations of sexual offences.

The BBC reports that the 83-year-old Australian entertainer has been arrested by Operation Yewtree police. Operation Yewtree was set up following the emergence of a number of sex abuse claims made against Jimmy Saville.

Harris was first arrested back in March. The Metropolitan Police, who have not named Harris, instead describing him as Yewtree 5, say Rolf has been "further arrested in connection with further allegations" and bailed until later in August.

Harris has been a permanent fixture in show business for over 40 years. Since arriving in the UK in 1952 he has released 30 studio albums and two live albums, featuring 48 singles. His 1992 'Rolf Rules OK?' was nominated for the ARIA Music Award for best comedy. His song Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport reached Number 1 in Australia, while Two Little Boys reached Number 1 on the Irish and UK charts.
