Making the Dolia catalog available on-line is part of the scientific and cultural vocation of Inrap and its mission to transmit archaeological knowledge to all persons interested.
The aim of this catalog is to index the documentary resources possessed by Inrap, including both acquired documents (reference works, periodicals, books) and the documents produced by the institute through its various activities: excavation archives, grey literature, operation reports, etc. The archaeological operation reports – diagnostics and excavations – constitute the richness and uniqueness of the documentary resources of Inrap and are therefore given priority for entry in the Dolia catalog.
This cataloguing permits the characterization and physical localization of a document, as well as a description of the contents via an abstract and triple indexation – geographic, chronological and thematic – with the PACTOLS thesaurus of the Frantiq network.
In November 2015, the Dolia catalog contained nearly 32,000 notices. In the past two years, approximately 4,000 units have been added per year.
