Elections for the 21 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha will be held in four phases.

About Odisha

Elections for the 21 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha are spread across four phases -- from April 11 to 29. 

Simultaneous elections are also being held for the 147-member Odisha Assembly. 

The Election Commission had announced that Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Berhampur, Koraput Lok Sabha seats would go to polls in the first phase on April 11. In the second phase on April 18, the Lok Sabha seats of Bargarh, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Aska went to polls. On April 23, elections were held for six Lok Sabha seats -- Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Puri, Bhubaneswar. In the fourth and final phase on April 29, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur will go to polls. 

In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the Biju Janata Dal Party led by Naveen Patnaik swept the polls by winning 20 out of the 21 seats despite a Narendra Modi in rest of India. BJP's Jual Oram managed to win the Sundargarh seat and the party finished runner-up in nine seats. The Congress, on the other hand, didn't win a single seat but managed finish second in nine seats.  

The BJD registered a vote share of 44.10 per cent, the BJP 21.50 per cent and Congress 26 per cent.
