I try to prepare my own organic pet food for my pets & usually run a mixture of healthy greens, veggies & fruits in a food processor to mix in the food. This powder is a convenient way to be certain they're getting their greens when I'm "in a pinch" for time (or energy) and can't (or don't feel like) going the extra mile. So far all the kitties and my doggy haven't seemed to notice the difference. PRICEY - $6 for less than 1 ounce but just check out the label - impressive. The price of one's food doesn't stop at the check out counter. To me it's much more cost effective (and less emotional) to purchase nutrient dense food than having to treat your pet for illness (or death) secondary to inferior nutrition. Proper nutrition goes a LONG way in preventing and reversing illness in pets (AND people)!

Dogs aren't all that pleased with this product. Stopped eating their food with this in it,, no matter what I did to it. Tried less than recommended dosage, then tried normal dosage, tried adding water, etc. They just don't care for it at all. Both dogs got really dry hair, which I assumed would correct itself over the course of a few weeks but that didn't happen. Three days of this not in their food and their coats were back to normal. Lots and lots of itching with this product for both dogs.

Cats didn't care for it more than once or twice in their wet food. And that was 1/16 of a teaspoon, no where near recommended amount.

Some people have great success with this product so I give it 3 stars for being what it says it is. Just didn't work with my animals.

I ordered this product after reading reviews about it helping older cats with arthritis and other age-related issues and wanted to try it on my female cat. She's 10 years old and is very stiff in her back legs and I've been giving her Cosequin every day for at least two years. I've noticed recently she was a little less mobile, sleeping a lot and just being a crotchety old cat. I'd try to play with her but she only showed interest for a minute or two before looking at me like "What are you doing?" Her grooming had also declined a bit and there was more dandruff (but it is winter here) so she'd get brushed along with bath-wiped to help.

The serving size is about 1 tsp per day for a cat and the mixture is 1 part GM to 2 parts purified water. As a human you think "A teaspoon isn't bad!" but when you're giving it to a cat you're going to think "This is too much!" so the serving I give to my cat is about 1/4 teaspoon per meal. I don't see her accepting her food with a full teaspoon no matter how you divide it and I'm ok with not giving her the full amount. She gets Wellness soft food so I mix it in that and her cosequin is flavored so I think that helps mask the GM taste, it smells like fruits and veggies so I totally understand why cats would not eat this.

I'm writing this after a week or two of feeding and I have to say I do see a difference. She seems more awake and is interested in playing. She also seems less crotchety and doesn't get mad when my other two cats are in her vicinity. Her coat is still has dandruff but it's softer now and I don't feel the need to do the bath wipes on her, which I'm sure she loves. I give this product 5 stars for helping my older cat and since I give her less than the recommended serving this small sample bottle will last me a long time. It barely looks like I made a dent in it as I write this.

On to the 2nd cat.

While I bought this specifically for my arthritic cat, I decided to give some to my 2nd cat who has "Kitty IBS." I found success in managing his IBS issues by switching him exclusively to Fromm foods, away from Wellness, and have had little to no diarrhea incidents since the switch. Obviously I thought this product could give him a boost in nutrients, he's about 7-8 years old so I tried it out and I gave him an even smaller amount than the arthritic cat because this cat gets mostly hard food. I added it to his hard food in one section of the bowl just so he could get used to it, the couple times I gave him Fromm soft food I mixed it in and since he loves that stuff he ate it with no protests. The hard food - not so much. He'd eat a few kibbles with the GM on it but typically avoided that side of the bowl. But eating it wasn't the problem; after adding it he developed awful diarrhea that went from typically gross diarrhea to pure liquid diarrhea. I wasn't sure it was the GM but the diarrhea subsided after I halted the GM and gave him a small dose of cat diarrhea medicine (kaolin & pectin). He's back on his regular food regimen with no issues so I'm 99% sure it was the Green Mush that upset his stomach. I'd give the product zero stars if I was only rating it on my experience with him.

I'd recommend the sample size if you want to give it a try. I give my arthritic cat way less than the recommendation but I feel the small amount I give her is better than nothing and I've seen results despite the dosage. Obviously I can't recommend this for cats with digestive issues but all cats are different and I can only speak for my own.

I tried this on the advice of someone at a local pet food store for my 18 year of cat who is suffering with arthritis and disk problems. However, being 18 and set in her ways she will not even taste it. I've even tried mixing it in with her food and she still knows it's there. I'm glad it has worked for many others out there--I figured I would give it a try--but she won't.

I love this product! It has more 100% pure wild crafted ingredients than anything I've ever seen!! It's packed with land vegetables, Healthy algaes, Aquatic vegetables and enzymes. For animals and YOU!!! I mix a little with baby organic baby food or mashed banana or mashed sweet potato or canned organic pumpkin for my pet rats ( it's a powder ) and when I bake heathy homemade treats for them I sprinkle some in and blend it well into the batter. Can use for other rodents too, all your pocket pets and your cats & dogs!! The only supplement I will use. I know many rodent owners who use this. Highly recommend this product!
