Journey to Antarctica in 1959

We are leaving Dunedin and heading across the open sea toward McMurdo. The pilot has just given us the weather report for McMurdo: high clouds and blowing snow with winds from 25 to 30 miles an hour. Visibility is about three miles. There are about 50 men aboard the aircraft including our group of a dozen scientists, the press group and the Navy League people.
