George W. Bush

Young George W. was also sometimes called just "W" to distinguish him from his father. The family lived in Midland and Houston. As a youngster, George W. played Little League and developed a lifelong love of baseball. In 1989, he would assemble a group of investors to buy the Texas Rangers baseball team. Bush became managing partner of the Rangers, and preferred to sit in the stands with other fans than in the owner's box. Later, as president, Bush would build a baseball diamond on the White House lawn for Little League play.
