WORLD'S LARGEST ONLINE TRADING COMMUNITY LAUNCHES NEW WEB SITE IN FRANCE

DATELINE: SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 4

eBay®, the world's largest online trading community, is launching its French web site (http://ebayfrance.com). The site, which is in the final phase of testing, will go live on Thursday, October 5. eBay France allows French buyers and sellers to trade popular French items -- such as Napoleonic coins and Tintin comics -- using French Francs. Also, an easy-to-use search feature allows people to quickly find items located in France or from among the nearly 5 million items listed on eBay around the world.

eBay pioneered online trading, creating a huge marketplace and community where people can buy, sell, chat and share their experiences with fellow collectors all over the world. Already thousands of French people are avid eBay users -- some make their living from selling on eBay while others have discovered a fun and entertaining web site that allows them to pursue their collecting passions.

"The launch of eBay France brings our successful online trading model to another of the world's top Internet markets," said Meg Whitman, president and CEO, eBay Inc. "The site will allow French users to trade locally while also giving them access to eBay's worldwide community of 15.8 million registered users. No other web site offers French traders a proven local service with a global reach."

To promote the launch of the web site, eBay France is waiving all listing fees for a limited period, providing sellers with an even greater reason to list their items on ebayfrance.com.

The new eBay France (http://ebayfrance.com) web site now offers:
