NEWS - Jackson receives his World Records

Tuesday November 14, 07:14 PM , Press Assoc.

Michael Jackson took a break from rehearsals for the World Music Awards to drop into the office of Guinness World Records.

The fallen King of Pop, 48, asked to visit the building in north west London to receive his collection of World Record certificates.

Jackson was presented with certificates for eight accolades, including the most recent for the Most Successful Entertainer of All Time.

Other records include Youngest Vocalist to Top the US Singles Chart (aged 11, fronting The Jackson Five) and First Vocalist to Enter the US Single Chart at Number One (You Are Not Alone).

The star, who has now run into financial problems, also holds the record as the First Entertainer to Earn More Than 100 million Dollars in a Year and Highest Paid Entertainer of all Time (125 million dollars in the 1989 Forbes list).

His other records include First Entertainer to Sell More Than 100 Million Albums outside the US, Most Weeks at the Top of the US Album Charts (non-soundtrack for Thriller) and Most Successful Music Video (Thriller).

A fan of Guinness World Records since childhood, Jackson arrived at the offices with a fleet of black and silver people carriers.

Wearing his signature black shades, three quarter length dinner jacket and trousers with yellow piping, the Beat It star was followed by an army of fans from his hotel.

Jackson was presented with his record certificates, a copy of the latest edition of the book and a special edition from the year he was born (1958).

The star, who has also enjoyed a midnight shopping trip to Topshop while staying in London, was given a tour of the offices by Guinness World Records Editor Craig Glenday.
