| Times Square, New York, USA Times Square is a major intersection in the Big Apple, New York City. It contains a plethora of glittering neon signs, plenty of bright yellow taxi cabs, hundreds of shops and millions of pedestrians each day. It is one of the most action packed streetscapes in the world illuminated by lights and advertising. Times Square has been featured numerous times in books, on television, in movies, and video games. It stands as the iconic representation for western pop culture. 
Hachiko Crossing in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan
Shibuya began to emerge as a railway terminal for southwestern Tokyo and eventually as a major commercial and entertainment center. Shibuya is famous for its scramble crossing. It is located in front of the Shibuya Station Hachiko exit and stops vehicles in all directions to allow pedestrians to inundate the entire intersection. Three large TV screens mounted on nearby buildings overlook the crossing. The Starbucks store overlooking the crossing is also one of the busiest in the world. The Hachiko pedestrian crossing in the Shibuya district of Tokyo is the busiest pedestrian crossing in the world. 
The Strip, Las Vegas, USA The Las Vegas Strip is approximately 4 miles long and contains many of the largest hotels, casinos and resort properties in the world. A National Scenic Byway is a road recognized by the United States Department of Transportation for its archeological, cultural, historic, natural, recreational, and/or scenic qualities. The Strip is considered an All-American road; The most scenic of the roads in the program are designated All-American roads. Throughout the streetscape dramatic themes are used through bold signage and architectural design. 
Champs Elysees, Paris, France
Name after the Elysian Fields a place of the sacred in Greek mythology, the Avenue des Champs-�lys�es is the most prestigious avenue in the world. Decorated with quaint caf�s, luxurious hotels and specialty shops. In its short 2km stretch it's wide open streetscape stares directly at the Arc de Triomphe. During the Christmas Season the Avenue des Champs-�lys�es is decorated from top to bottom. Known in France as La plus belle avenue du monde, The most beautiful avenues in the world, it remains one of the most expensive strips of real estate in Europe. 
Magnificent Mile, Chicago, USA
The magnificent mile is one of North America's greatest shopping streets. It runs along Michigan Ave. through the heart of Chicago. It is also the sitting ground for many of the most architectural marvels built throughout the 20th century. It extends from the lovely Chicago River (dyed the colour green each St. Patrick's Day) to "the loop", a major business district. It host a lovely boulevard and wide sidewalks, which host lovely restaurants, exquisite hotels and shops and some of the tallest buildings in the world. A number of prestigious buildings are located along the Magnificent Mile, such as the John Hancock Center and the historic Tribune Tower. Although there is a wall of buildings that surround you along this stretch of street you will never feel claustrophobic because of the design, wide side walks and inventing building bases. 
Nanjing Road, Shanghai, China
Nanjing is the main shopping strip in Shanghai, China. Nanjing Road has been a centre of retail commerce in Shanghai for more than a hundred years. In English Nanjing is called Nanking. It is a glitter of neon signs and is flourishing with pedestrians. As a matter of fact most of the post WWII built part of the road is made for pedestrians only. Many holidays are celebrated along Nanjing Road, such as the Chinese New Year, New Year's Eve, Christmas and Easter. A subway line runs along Nanjing. As in Shibuya, Tokyo, you'll sense you are in the future as you frolic this street.  |
