09 new COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka

Total of 50 COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka - 09 Reported Today

Colombo (News 1st) - The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka is now at 50 with 09 new cases being reported on Wednesday(18).  Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe speaking to the media at the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak said a total of 212 suspected COVID-19 cases are treated in Sri Lanka. Private hospitals to conduct tests Dr. Anil Jasinghe, the Director General of Health Services noted private hospitals in Sri Lanka are permitted to conduct tests for COVID-19 under very strict conditions adding tests can only be performed on patients admitted to hospital and who show the symptoms. The cost of these tests cannot exceed Rs.6000/-, said Anil Jasinghe. Further, he said the Government has called for the temporary closure of all night clubs and betting centers cross the country. In addition, he requested all tour guides in the country to refrain from engaging in social activities for a period of one month and remain indoors, in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Roy-Tho Big Match  Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said all those who are at the Turf Club Tent at the annual Big Match Cricket encounter between Royal College, Colombo and St. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia must immediately subject themselves for self-quarantine.
