1000+ People of the Millenium and Beyond
[Dewey Numbers: 920-921]
M
In compiling this page of one thousand plus people of the past millennium and before, the following sources were consulted.
The primary source is the book 1,000 Years, 1,000 People: Ranking the Men and Women Who Shaped the Millennium, published in 1998 by Kodansha International. Another source for "millennium people" is the list of 100 people published in Life magazine in 1999 and available on the Web and a list published at the Biography Channel website of the 250 most influential people of the last thousand years (the first 100 of these are ranked). In addition, the 110 people ranked in the book, The 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History, has been consulted as well as the Time magazine list of the most influential people of the last century and also available online. Finally, I have indicated those persons who have an article in the Macropaedia section of the Encyclopaedia Britannica , 1998 ed. I have provided links places on the Web where you can find a decent biographical article for the top 100 people (plus a few more) published on any of these lists. For people not on any of the top 100 lists I have merely provided the name and dates of the person. See links below at the top of each column for more information about each title.
