Former first Russian Minister of fuel and energy Vladimir Lopukhin dies of coronavirus
Former first Minister of fuel and energy of Russia Vladimir Lopukhin died of a coronavirus. His death was announced on his Facebook page by writer Denis dragoonsky on Tuesday, May 26, APA reports citing Ria Novosti.
The ex-Minister died at the age of 69, and dragoonsky called him his long-time and loyal friend.
“Vladimir Mikhailovich Lopukhin, a man to whom I owe a lot in my spiritual and mental biography. The Kingdom of heaven to you, dear Volodya, eternal rest and eternal memory, ” the publicist wrote.
Viktor Chernomyrdin replaced Lopukhin as Minister, and the former first Minister of energy was appointed adviser to the head of government Yegor Gaidar in the fall of 1992. After completing his career, the official worked for Lazard Freres Bank, helping Gazprom, Surgutneftegaz, and Rosneft.
He was a member of the boards of Directors of British American tobacco, Java, Sukhoi Civil aircraft, and SuperJet International.
