The 2024 European Parliament elections take place in a partly new political landscape in many countries across Europe. Professor Simon Hix discusses current forecasts and how various outcomes may affect European-level policies and trajectories. This seminar is arranged by SIEPS in cooperation with SNS.
The outcome of the elections in June will determine the political balance of the European Parliament, and thus also affect the direction that EU policy making will take over the next five years. With the parliament poised to make a significant shift to the right, this seminar discusses the potential consequences for voting coalitions and policy outcomes against the background of a forthcoming SIEPS analysis on this topic by Simon Hix and Abdul Noury.
