Leonard Dennis Field

1932? - 19??

Sentence: 25 years, 20 for Conspiracy to Rob and 5 for Obstructing Justice.

Leonard ‘Lennie’ Field (no relation to Brian Field) was 31 at the time of the robbery and worked as a merchant seaman.

Leonard Dennis FieldField was the person who put in a monetary offer on Leatherslade Farm. The sum was for £5,750 and Field persuaded the owner to let him move in two weeks before handing over the money. The sale never went through and the owner never received the money.

Witnesses place people at the farm on the 6 and 7 August, just a day before the robbery; it had most likely been the gang making their final preparations. Field was found guilty of conspiracy to rob and sentenced to a total of 25 years in prison. It was later believed that Lennie Field, along with William Boal, was innocent.
