The furious mother of a 13-year-old yesterday said she had no respect for a police force that could shoot young children at point blank range.
Speaking at a Sinn Fein Press conference at Conway Mill, Roseen Walsh said her daughter Maire was returning home from a disco on Sunday night when she was allegedly hit in the face by a plastic bullet in the Lenadoon area.
Responding to the claim, a police spokesman said there was serious rioting in the Lenadoon area on Sunday night and said that any complaints reported against the RUC would be thoroughly investigated.
Mrs Walsh said her daughter was standing close to 14-year-old New Barnsley boy Gary Lawlor, who remains critically ill on a life support machine after being hit on the head by a plastic bullet. …
